Almond Oil, Sweet: Beneficial for dry skin and helps relieve itching, soreness and dryness. It is reported to be soothing, healing, lubricating, softening, revitalizing and nourishing. Good for sensitive or irritated skin.
Apricot Kernel: Good oil for face, and beauty treatments such as Body Oils and Lotions. Good for all skin types, especially sensitive or dry, dehydrating, maturing skin
Arnica infused oil: infused in olive oil, also known as Wolf’s Bane, this plant has been used for centuries to help relieve the pain of swelling, arthritis, bruises and sore muscles.
Avocado Oil: Good for dermal regeneration. Also good for dry, dull dehydrated skin, mature skin and eczema. Contains Essential fatty acids, minerals, protein, Vitamins A, B, E and beta carotene.
Beeswax: helps to thicken many creams naturally. Also, dry, rough skin may benefit from creams, lotions or soaps that contain beeswax. When added to skin care products, beeswax acts as an emollient and a humectant, drawing moisture to the skin and sealing it in. Beeswax also contains vitamin A, which may be beneficial in softening and rehydrating dry skin and in cell reconstruction.
BTMS: derived from rapeseed oil, this ingredient emulsifies other ingredients. It provides outstanding conditioning to hair, de-tangles hair and is great for sensitive skin
Calendula Infused oil (infused in olive oil): good for all skin types for treating wounds, scars, burns, inflammation and other injuries as it aids in tissue regeneration.
Camelina oil: Due to a high content of essential fatty acids, it is wonderful for all types of skin, acting as an anti-aging and emollient agent to improve the skins elasticity and suppleness.
Carrot Seed oil: good for prematurely aging skin and dry, itchy skin.
Castor Oil: Used in Lujos soaps to make the lather creamy and long lasting
Cetrimonium chloride: used in Lujos shampoos, for its softening, detangling and anti-static properties. It is not a silicone or silicone derivative.
Coconut Oil:This light textured oil is easily absorbed making it a good oil for body creams.
Cocoa butter: commonly used in hand, body and face creams to protect and soften skin.
Cranberry seed oil: Light in texture, quickly absorbed, is said to moisturize the skin as no other oil can. Cranberry seed oil is a wonderfully moisturising addition to any formula for cream or lotion for rough, dry, or mature skin. Some sources say it aids in the relief of scaly, itching skin conditions, and may be helpful for both eczema and psoriasis. Some evidence of barrier of UV rays, thus helping to protect the skin against sun damage, but this is not proven.
Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate: made from fatty acids from coconut oil, this ingredient adds body, suppleness and sheen to the hair, as well as helping to remove oil and dirt from the hair.
Emulsifying wax BP: a blended emulsifying wax which contains cetearyl alcohol and surfactant, used to emusify the oils and water in creams and lotions. Also thickens, is not derived from animal products, and is food grade as well as cosmetic grade.
Evening Primrose Oil: excellent oil for dry, aging or chapped skin, and may help conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.
Geogard Ultra: a broad spectrum preservative derived from corn, and used extensively in our Lujos products. It is the only product of its kind certified by ECOcert for use in natural and organic products. Also approved by the Soil Association, the European Union Cosmetics Directive, and the Japanese Ministry of Health & Welfare. (The Japanese have the stringest criteria in the world concerning what ingredients can be present in the personal care products sold there)
Glycerin: Lujos uses only vegetable glycerine (glycerin). It is used in cosmetics and body care products to assist in retaining moisture and is helpful in pulling oxygen into the skin. Vegetable glycerine is a natural emollient that adds a cooling effect on the skin.
Glucosides: Decyl, coco and lauryl glucoside are used in the Lujos shampoos. This family of surfactants are produced from renewable raw materials (corn and coconut) and are readily biodegradable. They are exceptionally mild and are not drying to skin or hair. They have the lowest irritation score of common surfactants. Perfect for use in baby care products and those with
sensitive skin. In hair care products, they smooth the hair to improve manageability. They have good foaming and cleansing power and approved by the Soil Association and EcoCert.
Grapeseed oil: good for acne and oily skin. A good oil for those whose skin does not seem to absorb oils easily. It absorbs well without feeling greasy. It contains vitamins, minerals, protein, GLA and some vitamin E.
Hemp seed oil: rich in essential fatty acids (EFA), this oil moisturises without greasiness. It readily sinks into the skin, and is good for replenishing dry skin and relieving eczema.
Hydrolysed oat protein: a natural humectant clinically proven to increase hydration. Used in skin care products to smooth fine lines and wrinkles. It conditions the skin and hair and adds a silky feel when added to creams, lotions, shampoos, conditioners and other liquid formulations.
Jojoba oil: great for mature, aging skin and wrinkles, although good for all skin types, as it is very similar to our own body oils.
Lamesoft: a mild, water-soluble emollient used in Lujos shampoos. Lamesoft is 100% plant-derived (Coco Glucoside from Coconut and the fatty acid Glyceryl Oleate from Sunflower Oil) and is gentle enough for use in baby care products. It is also a lipid layer enhancer and thus replenishes the skins’ moisture barrier function. It helps the hair retain its natural oils and moisture and assists with detangling.
Litsea cubeba essential oil: also called “may chang”, litsea cubeba essential oil has a refreshing, stimulating and uplifting action, which makes it perfect for relieving fatigue and lethargic psychological states. It also acts as a mild anti-fungal and antiseptic, making it perfect for use in skin care products
Mango butter: has natural emollient properties, wound healing, and regenerative activity. Mango Butter has been traditionally used in the rainforests and tropics for its skin softening, soothing, moisturizing and protective properties and to restore flexibility and reduce degeneration of skin cells.
Meadowfoam seed oil: forms a moisture barrier and will assist the skin with preventing moisture loss. It is a key ingredient in many different products such as massage oils and lotions, facial creams, sunblock, hair and scalp products, cosmetics, body lotions, and shaving creams. In hair care products, it will add shine and moisture to the hair, and will remedy dry or damaged hair. When added to lotions and lip balms, it will remoisturize dry or cracked lips and skin, and will make balms last longer.
Olive oil: a great oil for skin care, especially dry and mature skin, used for thousands of years to moisturise the skin. Also makes an excellent conditioner for hair and nails, and a good oil for making salves, balms and infusions.
Panthenol: Panthenol (Pro-vitamin B5) penetrates deep into the skin and hair shaft and has excellent water-binding abilities. It creates a protective film, thus aiding moisture retention. It helps strengthen the hair shaft by imparting an elastic film inside and out. This also helps thicken the hair and leaves the hair (and skin) feeling soft and silky.
Plum kernel oil: naturally rich in Vitamin A, E, oleic acid, linoleic acid, and anti-oxidants. For this reason, it is beneficial for dry and mature skin types and is often used in lip balms, moisturising creams, anti-wrinkle agents, cleansing lotions and massage creams. Its emollient properties bring nourishment and hydration to damaged skin and renew the complexion and maintain healthy cells. The feeling on the skin is very soft and plum oil penetrates the skin easily with no greasy residue.
Rosehip Seed Oil: good for for tissue regeneration, eczema and psoriasis. Often used to treat stretch marks, burns or scars.
Red raspberry seed oil: a superb anti-oxidant. Raspberry seed oil is emollient, lubricating, conditioning, creates a lipid barrier providing protection to the skin and provides moisture retention for the skin.
Vitamin e: a powerful anti-oxidant, protecting the skin from harmful free radicals. It also penetrates deep into the cells, helps activate cell proliferation, helps promote wound healing and may reduce UV-induced damage. It is also a powerful moisturiser.
